Fill the house with the aroma of simmering tomato sauce with Maltese sausage. A few additions take a pantry staple from ordinary to delicious!

Ingredients

  • 125g fusilli
  • golden drop olive oil
  • 1 Maltese Sausage
  • white wine
  • half an onion
  • 200g mushrooms
  • 250g tomato sauce
  • 75g cucina d'oro cooking sauce
  • 80g fior di vita four cheese
  • salt and pepper
  • fresh parsley

Instructions

Remove the skin of your sausage and crumble the meat with your hands or fork.

In a pan over medium-low heat, add a drop of olive oil and your crumbled sausage

Sizzle for about 5 mins, or the meat starts to become brown.

Add white wine and cook for 5 more mins, stirring occasionally.

Remove your cooked sausage and set aside.

In the same pan, sprinkle some more olive oil, add the chopped onion and cook for 2 mins.

Add sliced mushrooms and cook for about 4/5 mins then add your tomato sauce and cook for 15 more mins.

Season with salt and pepper.

In the meantime, boil your pasta in some salted water or until al dente.

After 15 mins, add your cooked sausage into your sauce, cooking sauce and cook for a couple more mins.

Add chopped parsley, your cooked pasta and toss well over the heat to combine all the flavours together along with a couple of spoons of pasta water.

Add the cheese and stir one last time.

Serve with some chopped parsley on top
