This rustic bread recipe is the closest you can get to Maltese bread, less the lengthy process, and without the kneading. Enjoy the smell of bread making at your own home. This crusty, full-flavored bread is topped with typical Maltese ingredients which makes it a fantastic home-made hobza to enjoy with friends by the sea on a hot summer night.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 Tablespoons of yeast
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1.5 cups water
  • red elmar tuna
  • vitaly's capers
  • golden drop olive oil
  • fos kalamata olives

Instructions

In a bowl mix together the flour, yeast, salt, olive oil and water

Cover and let rest for an hour

Get dough out, cover with flour until it's not sticky

Fold it 4 - 6 times. No kneading.

Heat pan in oven for 30 minutes.

Throw the dough in the pan, cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes at 200C

Remove lid and cook for a further 15minutes

Let it cool down and enjoy!
